Appliqué au dermapen en 4 séances, le PRP fait à peu près jeu égal avec les injections point par point chez 62 hommes de 18 à 55 ans atteints d'alopécie androgénétique, dans un seul essai de fiabilité limitée (Ozcan 2022). La densité passe de 48 à 56,39 cheveux par cm² avec le dermapen contre de 50,06 à 57,64 avec les injections, et la chute s'arrête chez 87,1 % contre 77,4 % des hommes, sans différence significative. Seule la part des cheveux qui poussent diffère significativement, en faveur du dermapen : elle passe de 44,03 à 50,55 %, quand elle recule de 55,99 à 49,99 % avec les injections. Ce sont des indices, à confirmer.
