Ajouter trois séances mensuelles de PRP au minoxidil topique 5 % semble augmenter la densité chez l'homme : en 22 semaines, le nombre de cheveux par cm² passe de 90,05 à 150,45 avec l'association, contre 90,65 à 123,95 sous minoxidil seul (Singh 2020), sans que l'écart soit testé. Ce résultat repose sur un seul essai à faible risque de biais, mené chez 80 hommes atteints d'alopécie androgénétique (Norwood II à V).
