Un seul petit essai de fiabilité limitée a comparé deux façons d'apporter le PRP, en injections ou par microneedling, en 2 séances à un mois d'intervalle et toujours avec le traitement de fond, chez 40 hommes et femmes atteints d'alopécie androgénétique (Nilforoushzadeh 2025). À 13 semaines, aucune ne se détache : la densité gagne +95,18 % par microneedling contre +64,69 % en injections, et les cheveux s'épaississent de +51,8 % contre +76,64 %, des écarts qui peuvent être dus au hasard. Les patients très satisfaits sont 69 % avec le microneedling contre 58 % avec les injections, sans que l'écart soit testé.
